The Age Newspaper Votes And My Take On Them

A newspaper paper based out of Melbourne called The Age gives votes to player's after every match and I find it hard to get my head around of some of the votes given here are a list of them, and the reporters that gave them, although I must admit to not seeing a couple of the matches.

CARLTON V RICHMOND
Votes provided by Jake Niall
Bryce Gibbs (Carlton) 8
Trent Cotchin (Richmond) 7
Chris Judd (Carlton) 7
Brett Deledio (Richmond) 7
Shane Tuck (Richmond) 6
Don't have a big problem with these votes but I thought Ty Vickery was a huge factor in the win, and Gibbs could have been awarded 9 maybe.

ADELAIDE V ESSENDON
Votes provided by Ashley Porter
Jobe Watson (Essendon) 8
Ben Howlett (Essendon) 8
Matthew Jaensch (Adelaide) 8
Dustin Fletcher (Essendon) 7
Sam Jacobs (Adelaide) 7
Not sure if Ashley Porter has an optometrist but how he could award 8 votes to Matthew Jaensch along with Jobe Watson and Ben Howlett is more than baffling to me, both of them should have been given 9 in my opinion, maybe Ashley has a man crush on young Matty Jaensch? I don't know astounding, I would have been lucky to put him in the Top 6 best for the Crows let alone equal BOG, anyway moving on.

FREMANTLE V WEST COAST
Votes provided by Brad Elborough

Michael Barlow (Fremantle) 8
David Mundy (Fremantle) 7
Nick Suban (Fremantle) 7
Matt Priddis (West Coast) 7
Josh Kennedy (West Coast) 7
Pretty hard to argue with the votes given here maybe with Barlow and Mundy sharing the Ross Glendinning Medal should have got equal billing and I thought Danyle Pearce a tad unlucky.

WESTERN BULLDOGS V BRISBANE
Votes provided by Jon Pierik

Will Minson (Western Bulldogs) 8
Brett Goodes (Western Bulldogs) 8
Nick  Lower (Western Bulldogs) 8
Tory Dickson (Western Bulldogs) 7
Jason Johannisen (Western Bulldogs) 7
Possibly could have given votes to a dozen Bulldog players but I will give a particular mention to Ryan Griffen, Tom Liberatore and Shaun Higgins, not exactly the reasoning behind Jason Johannisen getting votes unless he tagged Zorko in which case I apologize.

SYDNEY SWANS V GWS GIANTS
Votes provided by David Sygall

Kieren Jack (Sydney) 8
Josh Kennedy (Sydney) 8
Daniel Hannebery (Sydney) 7
Dylan Shiel (GWS) 7
Adam Treloar (GWS) 6
Didn't see this game either so can't make a judgement either way.

GOLD COAST V ST KILDA
Votes provided by Andrew Stafford
Gary Ablett (GCS) 9
Rory Thompson (GCS) 8
Lenny Hayes (StK) 7
David Armitage (StK) 7
Charlie Dixon (GCS) 6
The only issue with these votes is Gary Ablett should have got 15, but seriously should have got 10, this guy never ceases to blow my head. Also special mention to Rory Thompson and Charlie Dixon both 200cm+ giants who were superb.

MELBOURNE V PORT ADELAIDE
Votes provided by Peter Hanlon
Hamish Hartlett (PA) 8
Ollie Wines (PA) 8
Travis Boak (PA) 7
Brad Ebert (PA) 7
Jay Schulz (PA) 6
Missed this game as well but going on the stats Port could have had 10 players at least in the votes.

NORTH MELBOURNE v COLLINGWOOD
Votes provided by Jesse Hogan
Scott Pendlebury (Coll) 8
Andrew Swallow (NM) 7
Travis Cloke (Coll) 7
Steele Sidebottom (Coll) 6
Lindsay Thomas (NM) 6
Even though the Pies won Swallow deserved equal billing with Pendlebury as best on.

GEELONG v HAWTHORN
Votes provided by Rohan Connolly
Joel Selwood (Geel) 8
Paul Chapman (Geel) 8
Sam Mitchell (Haw) 7
Andrew Mackie (Geel) 7
Steven Motlop (Geel) 6
This was awesome, Selwood should have got 9, Mitchell 8 and even though the stats mighten show it the J-Pod was instrumental .

LEADERBOARD
Gary Ablett (GCS) 9
Bryce Gibbs (Carlton) 8
Jobe Watson (Essendon) 8
Ben Howlett (Essendon) 8
Matthew Jaensch (Adelaide) 8
Michael Barlow (Fremantle) 8
Will Minson (Western Bulldogs) 8
Brett Goodes (Western Bulldogs) 8
Nick Lower (Western Bulldogs) 8
Kieren Jack (Sydney) 8
Josh Kennedy (Sydney) 8
